The Thursday Pauses

We've tested that might just make your day 17% more human

Hey Thursday People,

We have spent over a decade watching people check Instagram while eating 20€ appetizers.

(Hospitality joke: "How many guests does it take to have a conversation? One, plus their 453 followers - hahaha!")

Before you scroll past another newsletter promising life-changing hacks, here are three genuinely weird "pause moments" we've tested that might just make your day 17% more human:

1. The "Plotwalking" Revolution

Last Saturday, Toni suggested we have our weekly catch-up while walking along the coast of Espoo instead of the usual coffee shop meeting. We called it "plotwalking" (plot your ideas while walking—we're not winning any naming awards here).

The magic happened about 12 minutes in. Something about the rhythm of walking, the absence of a table between us, and that Finnish sea air transformed our usual status update into a conversation that solved a problem we'd been stuck on for weeks.

Try this: Invite someone to a "plotwalking" session instead of sitting face-to-face. No agenda needed—just walk and see what conversations emerge when your body's in motion and there's nothing to stare at except trees and the occasional confused dog walker.

2. The Three-Breath Morning

Most of us reach for our phones within seconds of waking up.

Instead:

  • Take three deep breaths upon waking

  • Feel your body against the bed

  • Notice the quality of light in your room

  • Then, decide if you want your first human experience of the day to be digital

I've found this tiny ritual creates a completely different relationship with my day.

3. The White Space Block

Look at your calendar. Is every moment scheduled? Try this experiment from our Remori approach:

Block 30 minutes with absolutely no purpose except to be present. Not meditation. Not productivity.

Just space to notice what emerges when you're not filling every moment.

One colleague I work with found this so transformative that she now blocks "white space" three times weekly and says it's completely changed her work life.

"Life is black and white; Remori adds the color."

This is the philosophy behind our new movement. If any of these resonated with you, join our community of practitioners dedicated to reintroducing color to our increasingly monochrome world.

Until next Thursday, Joel & Toni
