The Thursday Pause
Why and what do we consume?
Heyyy there Remori People,
Aaah, the morning coffee. Time to pause and reflect without distractions… But really? I was absorbing random arguments between strangers on social media, following sports scores for teams I don't follow, and checking reviews for products I'll never buy.
Thirty minutes gone. Just like that.
The annoying part wasn't that I wasted the time—it was that I never chose any of it. My thumb just kept moving. My brain just kept consuming. Like some kind of digital autopilot I didn't even know was engaged.
Most of what we consume daily, we never actually decided we wanted. We just picked it up. The news is news because "everyone reads the news." The endless scroll because... well, because it's there.
But when did we last pause and ask: is this serving me?
This week, let's rethink what we're feeding our minds:
1️⃣ The Morning Filter
Try this: Before you check your phone tomorrow morning, take three deep breaths and ask yourself: "What do I want to know about the world today?" Then choose one specific thing to read, rather than falling into the scroll.
You might discover that your mind craves something completely different than what your habits have been feeding it.
2️⃣ The Consumption Pause
Try this: Next time you're about to consume something—news, social media, even a podcast—pause and ask: "How do I want to feel after this?" Then notice how you actually feel afterward.
This simple check-in helps you become conscious of what's nourishing versus what's just noise.
3️⃣ The One-Thing Question
Try this: Pick one thing you consume regularly out of habit. Ask yourself: "What would happen if I didn't consume this for a week?" Then experiment with replacing it with something that aligns with how you want to feel.
The goal isn't to cut everything out—it's to choose consciously rather than consume automatically.
