The Thursday Pause
Heyyy there Remori People!
I was staring at my phone calendar yesterday, counting the colored blocks that filled nearly every hour. Fifteen meetings, dozens of notifications, and somewhere in there, I was supposed to find time to actually think. When did simplicity become so... complicated?
This week's theme of simplicity with our "Rewind" focus resonates perfectly with Kevin Kelly's wisdom: "Don't let your email inbox become your to-do list run by others." What if reclaiming control of our time is the ultimate form of simplification?
Here are three pause moments to help you rewind and simplify today:
1️⃣ The Inbox Rebellion Try this: Set aside two specific 30-minute blocks today for checking and responding to emails and messages. Outside those times, close your inbox completely. No notifications, no quick peeks. This boundary prevents others' priorities from hijacking your attention and reminds you who actually owns your time.
2️⃣ The Technology Time Machine Try this: Identify one digital process that's become unnecessarily complex and replace it with an analog alternative for today. Use paper instead of an app, have a face-to-face conversation instead of a messaging thread, or write a physical note instead of an email. This "rewind" helps you experience the clarity that comes from fewer inputs and distractions.
3️⃣ The Enough Experiment Try this: Before acquiring or consuming anything today (information, food, products, commitments), pause and ask: "Is what I already have enough?" Notice how often the honest answer is yes. This simple question can dramatically reduce what you let into your life.
"Life is black and white; Remori adds the color."
