The Thursday Pause

Walk the talk - skipping routines is good for you

The Thursday Pause

Heyyy there Remori People,

I owe you an apology. Last Thursday's pause? It didn't happen. I was too busy living the very thing we write about—being present, exploring, and letting summer unfold without forcing it into neat weekly schedules.

Finland in summer is ridiculously good. Museums to experience cool things. Amusement parks where my son discovers he's braver than he thought. Ice cream kiosks that somehow taste different when you find them by accident instead of following Google Maps to the "best rated" one.

But here’s the thing: we almost went to the same beach. Again. The comfortable choice.

Dodged a bullet there!

1️⃣ The Comfort Zone Exit

Try this: This week, choose something different. Not the usual coffee shop. Not your regular walking route. Not the restaurant you know you'll like.

Pick the unknown option. The unexplored path. The menu item you can't pronounce. Notice how your brain protests—it wants efficiency, predictability, control. Ignore it. The magic lives in the spaces between your plans and reality's surprises.

2️⃣ The Patience Practice

Try this: Next time someone tries to sell you something (anything—ideas, products, solutions), notice their approach. Are they listening or just waiting for their turn to talk?

Then flip it: when you're the one "selling" (your ideas at work, weekend plans to your family, yourself on why you deserve that promotion), try radical patience instead. Listen until you understand what the other person actually wants, not what you think they should want.

3️⃣ The Randomness Reward

Try this: Say yes to one completely unplanned opportunity this week. The colleague who mentions an interesting event. The friend who suggests trying that new place. The kid who wants to explore that weird path in the woods.

Don't analyze it. Don't optimize it. Just follow the thread and see where randomness takes you. (Fair warning: you might end up buying a car you didn't plan to buy. True story.)

"Life is black and white; Remori adds the color."

Sometimes the best pause is the one you didn't schedule. Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you stop trying to discover anything at all.

Until next Thursday,

P.S. What's one "comfort zone" choice you made this week that you could switch up? I promise the unknown option is more interesting than you think.
