The Monday Reset

Silence the Noise

In search of more peaceful evenings, I made some changes last week.

I turned off nearly all my phone notifications for the evening. Not adjusted them. Not muted them temporarily. Completely disabled them.

Only calls and messages from a select few people can now break through my digital silence. The constant stream of alerts, badges, and vibrations that once dictated my attention has simply... vanished.

I found myself fully present with whatever I was doing—watching a movie without checking my phone even once, completely absorbed in the story rather than splitting my attention. Without the constant disruptions, I could finally be entirely where I was.

Rethink: The Attention Revolution

This week, we're exploring our Rethink principle – questioning the assumptions that shape our daily lives.

We often think we need to check every notification right away. But do we really? What if we decided when to use our phones instead of letting them decide for us?

I've noticed most notifications aren't actually important. They just feel urgent. And when we keep checking them, we lose something valuable: our ability to be fully present.

The Quiet Mind Experiment

This weekend, I found myself sick and forced to slow down. While making chamomile tea, I noticed how my mind wandered freely without the usual interruption of notifications. Standing there, watching the steam rise, I was enjoying my thoughts. It felt good to think without interruptions from my phone.

Weekly Intention

This week, I invite you to experiment with digital silence. Choose one app that frequently interrupts you and turn off its notifications completely. Notice what happens in the quiet moments you gain.

Do you feel more relaxed? Do you enjoy things more? Do you actually finish that movie without checking social media or messages?

This small change might reveal how much of your attention you've been giving away without even realizing it.

I've already asked Joel Pakalén which app he's planning to silence this week. I'm curious to see what he chooses. Looking forward to Thursday's Pause and wondering what new insights it will bring.

What's one notification you could silence this week?

"Life is black and white; Remori adds the color."

Until Thursday,
